among the officers this year while a record number of past officers are staying on board to lend their guidance and expertise to running this club, which has rapidly gained a reputation as being the best run and most active dive club in the area. I'm so proud of the things this group of officers has done. And thrilled to see new people stepping forward to help out. As the club has grown in size, we need more people to help with various responsibilities. We are always looking for fresh ideas and support from the membership. One of the most fun and fulfilling ways to enjoy this club is to become involved in the leadership. If you have the time, even a few hours a month, we have something you can help out with. Just contact me or one of the other officers and we'll find something in your area of interest, be it dive activities (planning and leading dives or dive trips), social activities (planning and organizing parties and day trips), fundraising (we need someone to take charge of this), writing articles for the newsletter, membership recruitment, boat maintenance, club photographer, public relations. There are many tasks like this that have been and need to be performed.
This year, we're Saved by the Bell, Scott Bell that is, my able Vice President, Voice of Reason and club bartender.

We'll stay entertained by Cruise Director Donna (our new Social Director, Donna Kruse), with the continued support and guidance of our experienced Board of Directors, Connie Gimbel, Dan Snyder, and Stacey Nelson. We have a new Secretary, Rebecca Bradley. John Leek and Geoff Nelson will continue recruiting new members and heading up dive activities.
Outgoing President Mike Stiles has agreed to stay on board as Treasurer for this coming year - and hopefully hasn't left any big surprises for me and Scott to deal with. If he has, we know where he lives...!! He can't get away that easily! We have a couple of new Webmasters, Robyn Ericson and Gerry Schaffer. and a new Editor for the Pelican Brief, Helen Burdett starting in January. Though I'm not sure how we talked him into it, we'll still have Jim Hudson making sure the club boats are running and available for diving each week. He's promised to do this for one last year, but is hoping to recruit some help (and his future replacement) from some of you who have experience with inflatable boats and/or two-stroke engines and who have a little time to help out the club. This is one place in the club where volunteers are needed the most. This year we hope to involve even more

of you in the leadership of the club. As is evidenced by the number of former officers that want to continue on in other positions, being on this management team is not only fulfilling, but one of the most enjoyable things about being a member of the Dive Animals. Give it a try...!
This year you'll find a few changes while we'll continue to do things that we've traditionally done. A new look for the website (thanks to several of our members, who'll get the credit when the time comes!). We'll have a new boat in service by summer. More parties and summer barbecues. Donna is planning some ski trips this winter. No telling what all Donna and her Party Girls will come up with...!! In May we'll have another of our river rafting trips. We'll continue our monthly treks to La Bufadora in the summer. We have two Horizon charters, in the spring and fall as we've done annually. And of course the two big trips to Cay Sal in May-June.
Anything that you would like to see us doing that we aren't currently doing, let us know. We're always open to new ideas and would like to hear what you have to say. You can always contact me at my email or call me at home. I look forward to serving you.
