As DASC Boat Manager for 1999 I want to report that the club boats are in good condition and ready for an active dive season in 1999.
Last year we rebuilt the Suzuki 40 which is mounted on the Avon and has had less than 40 hours of run time, it is ready to go. We had Zodiac of San Diego repair the two front seams on the Zodiac and it is holding air well now. We bought new spare tires and lug wrenches for the trailers, new anchors, lines and gear boxes. The Dihatsu 40 on the Zodiac is running good and the spare Suzuki 40 is running good too.
This year we are going to refinish the deck boards on the Avon. We are looking into getting GPS units, vessel assist membership and first -aid kits, to go along with the club radios for additional safety. Other than standard maintenance we are ready to dive in 1999!

One the greatest needs that we have as a club is operators to take the boats out. As of now we have about 5 operators. With nearly 100 members we need more qualified operators. Right now I have about 10 members who want to certify as operators. I will hold a clinic during the last two weekends of February (and even in to March as needed to get as many members qualified as possible).
To schedule a dive boat as an operator or to get on a boat as a diver, you can e-mail me at diveanimal@home.com or call me at 619-280-2613. I am looking forward to a great year of diving with, and meeting as many DASC members as possible. Always feel free to contact me anytime. Jim Hudson 619-280-2613 (hm) 800-876-5155 (wk).
