Kern River Rush!

By Scott Bell
Last year, Frances (bless her evil little heart)was able to convince a group of us adventure seeking SCUBA divers to head on up to the Kern River for a day of river rafting.  We all had a great time, never minding the dirt biker campsite, the midnight and morning rains, and the freezing water (I'm talking 40's here!!).

I had such an interesting time that I scribbled down some notes about the comings and goings during the trip, although some people attribute my miss-adventures to the fact that I was just getting over the flu.  So I thought I would share one with you all.  Hope I don't offend any one, and I hope you enjoy it.

As we rounded a bend about mid-morning we saw a raft completely flipped over and suspended in some downed trees in the middle of the river.  Coming around the trees we watched as the boat driver and one of his patrons jumped off a rock midriver to try to swim to shore.  They had apparently been standing on that rock for quite a while and the

zon trips, there's no cost in signing up, although the first deposit will be due a little earlier. I'll be asking for a deposit about the First of March, with a schedule of 3-4 payments. For additional information contact me at 635-5568.

The Horizon has had a slight price increase due to a rise in operating costs. I

have the contracts, but haven't figured out the costs yet. Again, we will try to give you the trips at our cost. Another benefit of being a Dive Animal…..
