Notes from the Membership Committee

Greetings, Dive Animals!  In keeping with introducing the new board members, meet Donna Kruse and David Copenhaver, Co-chairs of the Membership committee.

Donna is a relatively new Dive Animal and California resident.  She relocated here from Iowa a mere 12 months ago.  Immediately upon arrival, Donna certified to scuba dive, a life long dream, and joined the Dive Animals!  She has subsequently logged about 50 dives including several club trips aboard the Horizon to San Clemente and with the group to LaBufodora, Mexico,  as well as a week in Maui.  Next dive destination:  Cozumel, Mexico.
Donna also enjoys mountain

biking, in-line skating, and traveling.  She loves trying new things!  Her last year, besides diving, has been spent enjoying all that California has to offer.  Donna's favorite traveling companion is her dive buddy and membership co-chair Dave Copenhaver.

Dave is also a Midwestern transplant, hailing from Indiana.  He has been diving for about 12 years and certified in a lake in Indiana with snow on the ground-truly a Dive Animal!   Dave has been in California for almost 4 years now and had logged too many dives to count!    Dave was the Cabana boy at last year's DASC spring event and is looking forward to the upcoming picnic on June 12.

Dave is a very adventurous person who also loves to try new things.  His credits include skydiving, white water rafting with the DASC club last spring on the Kern River, and his latest new hobby, in-line skating.

Donna and Dave have a lot of exciting NEW things planned for members and want to remind everyone that NOW is the time to renew your membership.  You can use the form contained in this very newsletter!   See the Membership Update for special renewal packages including the opportunity to participate in the Yukon project and the chance to win a berth aboard the Horizon on the Millennium trip!!

Message from Frances, continued

the Membership Renewal, the first increase in 4 years, from $35 to $40.  (We now pay a monthly rate for storage of the boats.)

If you bring a friend to join the club, you'll receive an additional five tickets for our drawing.  The drawing will be for: dive trips to local sites, Coronados, San Clemente, La Bufadora, dive gear, t-shirts, hats and other goodies. Tickets will again sell for 6 for $5 or 15 for $10.

(This is a fund raiser, remember - be generous. Plan to buy lots of tickets).

Food and soft drinks will be provided.  If you want to contribute a salad or appetizer, it would be appreciated.  Last year we started early and went until 7PM.  Come early.  Bring dive gear, beach chairs, (beer if you want). Plan to have a great time.  Let's hope for good conditions.  We all need to blow a few bubbles...!

Sincerely,
Frances San Clemente
